Welcome to the first newsletter of the HUCO Labs project! In this edition, we dive into the fundamentals of HUCO Labs and present its consortium and first actions delivered.
What is HUCO Labs?
The Collaborative HVET-University-COmpany Labs for Research (HUCO Labs) project brings together Vocational Education and Training institutions, universities, and companies to develop technicians’ skills that will facilitate synergies, and thus innovation, in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Project goals:
- to equip Mid-level Technicians (EQF level 5 and 6) with research and innovation-related skills fit for the requirements of the current world of work;
- to scale up results through a European ‘coalition of the willing’ of training providers;
- to boost transnational cooperation through Technological European Villages for Technicians, integrating university researchers and companies into one ecosystem.

HUCO Labs kicks off in Bari
On 20-21 January 2025, the HUCO Labs consortium met for the first time in Bari, Italy, for the project’s kick-off meeting, hosted by project coordinator ITS Cuccovillo.
Since then, project partners have been working on refining the HUCO Labs website, finalising the communication strategy, and launching the first phases of research and training activities.
