HUCO Labs showcased as an example of Innovation Alliance

On 16 January, HUCO Labs was presented during the EURASHE–ERRIN Project Matchmaking and Development Lab in Brussels — a key event bringing together higher education institutions, funding experts, and innovation practitioners from across Europe. Organised by consortium partner EURASHE, the event offered a unique combination of capacity building, inspiration, and networking, designed to support higher education institutions in strengthening their participation in European projects.

A central focus of the event was Erasmus+ Key Action 2 – Alliances for Innovation, which aim to strengthen Europe’s innovation capacity by fostering cooperation between higher education, vocational education and training (VET), and the wider socio-economic ecosystem. In particular, Alliances for Education and Enterprises (Lot 1) bring together diverse, transnational consortia to co-create solutions that respond to economic and societal challenges — from digitalisation and artificial intelligence to sustainability and workforce transformation.

HUCO Labs: a concrete example of an Innovation Alliance in action

Within this framework, HUCO Labs was presented as a practical and ongoing example of an Erasmus+ Innovation Alliance. The project brings together a diverse consortium of partners from multiple EU countries, including higher education institutions, vocational training providers, and companies. This collaboration reflects the core principles of the Alliances call:

  • Cross-sector cooperation between education and industry
  • Transnational collaboration to address shared European challenges
  • A strong focus on skills development for innovation, particularly for mid-level technicians

Through its activities, HUCO Labs demonstrates how such alliances can:

  • Design and deliver joint, future-oriented training programmes
  • Foster the co-creation of knowledge between education, research, and industry
  • Support the development of skills needed for digital, green, and innovation-driven economies

HUCO Labs clearly stood out as a well-structured, cross-border partnership responding to Europe’s evolving skills needs and which continues to support the development of stronger collaboration models, innovative training approaches, and a more connected European skills ecosystem.
