At the European Robotics Forum 2026 in Stavanger (NO), HUCO Labs partner Comau presented a compelling vision for the future of industrial automation. Represented by EU Project Manager Alfio Minissale, the keynote titled “Learning, upskilling and reskilling for new robotics and AI technologies” addressed a critical question: are we automating humans or humanizing production?
Comau Academy: Driving education
Since 2018, Comau Academy has trained over 30,000 individuals worldwide. The Academy operates on four strategic pillars—Professional, Educational, Innovation, and Cultural—to foster upskilling and reskilling for current workers, new hires, and students. Its goal is to provide fundamental skills in AI, digitalization, and human-technology interaction.
The Academy utilizes a suite of innovative technological solutions to bridge the gap between theory and practice, specifically addressed to Level 5 and 6 of the European Qualifications Framework targeted by HUCOlabs project and its ecosystem:
- e.DO Robot: A modular, open-source educational robot used for STEM learning and technical training.
- MyCo learning station: A complete, turnkey collaborative robotics workstation. It integrates a real industrial cobot with AI-driven vision to replicate realistic factory workflows.
- The Metaverse: An immersive, web-based learning environment accessible from any device. It offers virtual classrooms, showrooms, and interactive maintenance training.
- Robotic welding cells: New virtual and real training cells developed in collaboration with certification bodies to provide specialized professional skills.
By combining physical labs with virtual experiences like remote training module, Comau Academy is creating a robust educational ecosystem. This approach ensures that the workforce of tomorrow is not just ready for Industry 4.0, but can drive its evolution.
